In 2013, the international peasant movement La Via Campesina will celebrate 20 years working to globalise its struggles and hopes. To celebrate this anniversary, La Via Campesina will be launching a new channel on line: Via Campesina TV. This on-line TV-channel aims to make peasant struggles and victories more visible concerning several different topics: food sovereignty; native seeds; and the fight for land, water and the protection of life. It will provide an outlet for showcasing the dynamism, energy, strength and solidarity that mutually enrich us in the continued fight for the world that we want.
Whether you are a farmer, a Via Campesina activist, a member of another allied or friendly organization, or simply someone who shares our struggle; or a video activist, a student, or a filmmaker, you are invited to submit short videos on land, food, agroecology, native seeds, water, food sovereignty, farmer organizations and struggles, or any campaign against GMOs, TNCs, the use of agrotoxins in agriculture and so on.
You don't need to be a professional filmmaker, but you should be willing to change our food system. Your videos will be published for the launch of our online TV channel, in March 2013.
How do I take part?
Send us your video (4 minutes maximum) before January 10, 2013
Upload it on vimeo, youtube or any other system.
Send us the link to the following address lvc-communication@
We will then ask you to upload a higher definition version to a file transfer programme.
Authors will be credited and all material will be "Creative Commons" (it can be used freely by all for non-commercial purposes).
The Via Campesina team will review the videos before publishing them. Any video who’s message would be contrary to Via Campesina’s main vision will not be put on line.
This is not a competition, there is no prize - just the reward of making a contribution to the video-diversity of struggles in the world.
Get involved and spread the word!
